Why give out tracts?
God goes with the tract, so it will be read.
Tracts continue talking even after you have left
Tracts can get into a house and stay there
When someone throws away a tract, someone else may pick it up
Tracts don’t get sidetracked
They don’t give up or get tired
They travel inexpensively and require no rent
Tracts even continue working
when we are dead.
Tracts stay faithful to God's Word and never changes the Gospel
Why SEPTEMBER 30in30?
It's not JUST about evangelism. Evangelism is just one aspect of 30in30. Through the program, participants learn to yield to the Holy Spirit's promptings (Eph 5:18), pray more consistently (1 Thes 5:17), learn to think not just about themselves but about other peoples needs as well (Phil 2:4) and encourage other believers in their outreach (Heb 10:24, Phlp 2:4).
Great Commission. It is not easy to form spiritual habits. Did you ever wonder why the people in Acts met one another every day to break bread?
Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
One sad thing about life in our world today is that it is not practical for us to meet every day. The Church can only encourage its believers on Sundays. With 30in30, participants encourage one another for 30 days, helping one another to cultivate a pattern of obedience to the Holy Spirit in the Great Commission. In short, the 30in30 is one way of bringing practical Christianity to the Church members' daily life.
What if I do not like the tract?
It is true that there is no one tract to reach all people – but we must remember that:
The most important thing is that we stay true to God’s word (ie use a tract that biblically presents all aspects of the gospel including sin, judgment and saving faith only through Jesus Christ)
We do not over-think our obedience. If we thought too much about every tract we gave out, satan would provide you with many reasons why your tract is not appropriate, the person is too young, its not the right time, he won’t be receptive, tracts aren’t effective, he probably doesn’t understand English etc. We should just obey and leave the "receptiveness" to be determined by the Holy Spirit in that person's heart.
If you have been given one type of tract, trust God that he is able to use that tract or at least bring you to someone whom he knows WILL be receptive. If you have opportunity to use other tracts, please do so but ensure the gospel message that is contained is faithful to God's word. Don't let the tract selection stop you from obeying the Great Commission.
Why must we record details of the tracts we give out?
Accountability. We as Christians are to help one another in our spiritual walk. Have a look at all the verses in the NT which contain “ONE ANOTHER” in it (See Mt 24:10; Joh 13:14,34; 15:12,17; Ac 19:38; Ro 2:15; 12:10; 13:8; 14:13; 15:7,14; 16:16; 1Co 16:20; 2Co 13:12; Ga 5:13,15,26; 6:2; Eph 4:2,32; Col 3:13,16; 1Th 4:9,18; 5:11; Tit 3:3; Heb 3:13; 10:24-25; 1Pe 1:22; 5:14; 1Jo 3:11,23; 4:7,11-12; 2Jo 1:5; Re 6:4). God always intended us to have support from one another. Having to write down the tract details is an encouragement to participants to read all the different stories of the circumstances that GOD used to make His gospel known.
It also enables people to pray specifically about their tracts. For the managers, keeping track of tracts provides a vital means by which they can gauge the progress of their group, andgive extra encouragement to those that need it. There will also be many lessons the Church group can gain from the tracting exercise if the results are recorded. For example, we noticed that God would use strange circumstances to bring His people to places they would never go, had they not been carrying tracts.
Also, when we keep records of the tracts given out, we can use the details to give a detailed testimony in the future if one of the tracts brought someone to Christ. It is a way of enabling the sower and the reaper to rejoice together and ultimately, give God the glory specifically of the great things He has done in changing a sinner's life.
Why managers?
Encouragement. We all get spiritually lazy and the Bible says that we should provoke one another to good works. Managers are given the task to look after their sheep and should be encouraged to rely on God to find out what this entails. It is also a good way to train true Christian leadership which involves initiative, encouragement and servanthood – not just the ability to lead a Bible study.
Is there too much emphasis on numbers?
This outreach is about being committed to God’s call and
commandment for 30 days, its not about numbers. When the Bible mentioned that
3,000 and 5,000 people came to receive Christ in Acts, no one accused them of
being about numbers. Christians ought to be evangelizing every day, so the fact
that we gave out 30 tracts in 30 days is not much to boast about. If 30in30 leads to thousands of tracts being given out, don't let the numbers distract you from the fact that the Gospel IS being shared.
